My son is in a wheelchair and very hard to come up with ideas to incorporated the chair, so I decided to make him into a haunter house table costume.
I took a side of a cardboard box, put a hole towards the back to fit over his head then I braced it with wood shims to give it strength. I then took PVC pipe and connectors to build a frame for it to rest on in the front and had the back resting on his chair. Put a black plastic table cloth over it then glued it down with a glue gun.
I then found the grey table cloth at a Halloween store and placed it on top, along with plates of worms and bugs, silverware, goblets and napkins all found at a Halloween store. I then took assorted rubber bugs and bats and glued them all over the table. Around his neck is a feather boa with a large spider crawling up it.
We used a gel in his hair to make it stand up and sprayed it with a grey hairspray and put makeup on his face to make him look spooky. I did have spiders crawling up his face but they fell off when he started talking and before I got a picture. After he was all made up and ready to go I spun webs all over him and the table to give it that old abandoned spooky look.
He was the hit of the party and took first place in Best Overall Costume.

After being through 5 Hurricanes in 4 years, I thought I would try to find some humor in the situation. My kids missed about two Halloweens, due to the Hurricanes always occurring in September, and we were finally able to have a proper Halloween last year.
FEMA Houses are a common sight around here, so I thought why not make it into a Haunted FEMA House Costume? I thought that people would not find it funny at first, but I was wrong and people smiled when they saw it. It was easy to make, and I found a few supplies on the ground after the storms.
Supplies: Large box white paint black paint exacto knife roofing shingles (found) blue tarp (found) black pants black shirt blue felt small box
First, I painted the large and small box white, then I painted black lines to look like boards. I cut out arm holes and a hole for my daughter's head. Next, I cut out a porch and glued pieces of shingles on the roof part of the porch.
Next, I made a slanted roof out of cardboard and glued it to the smaller box for the roof. I added more shingles and a blue tarp to cover the roof. I painted FEMA on the tarp and cut out FEMA in blue felt for the pants.
This homemade haunted house costume is by far one of my coolest costumes I have ever made. I made this for my Grandson, everyone loved it! He would also sit down in it and it looked like a normal Halloween Decoration. Then he would stand up and totally scare everyone!
To make: Buy two foam pieces from fabric store. Make a box, no bottom and with a flat top. I made mine with a hot glue gun, it works great. Cut hole in flat roof for head to go through. Cut out windows for arms to go out on the side. Make roof with triangle back for shaping the roof. Spray paint roof, sides & doors. Use colored foam board (at the hobby store) for cutting out doors, windows and planter boxes.
Glue twigs and dead grass on sides (use imagination). Add spider web material and spiders. Add moon with pipe cleaner. Add battery operated lights. Purchase scary mask or paint face. Buy filmy material to pin to arms to look like ghosts.
Also great for yard decoration on Halloween with scary music coming from it.
