The raspberry costume went down an absolute treat! It was easy and cheap to create, I bought 30 red balloons and attached them to my top carefully with safety pins (you'll need a friend to help!)I didn't inflate the balloons TOO much because they were too big and drooped.
I wore black shorts and a plain black top along with a pair of green tights. My stalk and leaf 'hat' was made simply by cutting a toilet roll in half and covering with green felt then cutting leaf shapes out from the remaining felt, with a bit of glue they stuck easily together and I attached it to a headband with a few hair grips. The total cost of my outfit was £3.75 BARGAIN!
It took my friend and I about 30mins to inflate and pin the balloons on me but more people you have helping the quicker it is. It's not the easiest costume to move in but my attempt to sit down was comedy. I think this is my best costume to date and i thoroughly enjoyed it!
This grapes costume was a relatively simple costume to make. She wore a purple sweatsuit (with a hood) and I made, out of a big piece of felt from the fabric store, an A0line shaped dress. I am not a big sewer - don't worry, it's easy to hide flaws with this thing.
I cut open the back and added ribbons to tie it closed, so that way it would be easy to get the balloons on and off over clothing. I blew up the balloons (from the dollar store) and safety pinned them on.
I pinned to the top of the hood some leaves I had made out of felt as well as a felt stem (I used a marker to color the stem and make it more realistic). I also cut out leaf shapes as shoe covers. I put ribbons to tie around the ankle and the bottom of the shoe.
This grape costume is the best costume I've ever made. All I had to do was buy about 2-3 bags of purple balloons, purple tights, a purple shirt and purple shorts. I also wore purple slippers and a green hat-to act as the stem.
I just blew up all of the balloons and carefully safety pinned them all over me, with some help. Everybody loved my costume, none of the balloons got popped until very late that night and I was able to sit because I was careful of where I placed the balloons. I also curled some ribbon to make veins.
I did it all in one day, and was running late so it took about an hour (including blowing up the balloons). It could be done faster with more people to help. I haven't thought of a better costume yet. It was a lot of fun.
I have twin 3 month old daughters and could not find a costume that could fit them and keep them warm. My 8 year old son and I were out looking for baby clothes and came up with the idea to dress them as a couple bunches of grapes. This Homemade Bunch of Grapes Baby Costume worked in the stroller as well.
This Homemade Grapes Halloween Costume is made from balloons. The balloons are attached with safety pins. The face is painted green and a green hat is worn with a vine intertwined between the balloons.
