These DIY Christmas Gift Box Costume Ideas were very easy to come up with. After finding out that our good friend was dressing as Santa Claus we decided we would get creative and dress like his presents!
We found several boxes and wrapped them in pretty wrapping paper, attached garland for the straps and each added our own personal touches. The more sparkles the better! Each of us attached a tag to the boxes also that said "don't open till Christmas" or "unwrap me"- just a humorous saying.
That is all it took to make a very fun and unique homemade Halloween costume. This idea is great to use with a group of friends.
Tip: Be sure to tape the inside of the boxes with duct tape. The top and the bottom has to be taped inside to create the openings on each end and we found that duct tape is definitely the way to go.
The total cost of this costume was about $10.00. Most of the supplies that were used were already found around the house or free (the box).
I got the idea for this Homemade Gift Box Costume from your website and dressed myself up as a present. I got a box from moving in to my new apartment, cut three squares in it (two on the sides and one on the top) and cut out the bottom.
Then I wrapped it in wrapping paper and cut X's right where the square holes were so I could tuck the wrapping paper in. I got two pieces of felt, purple and blue, and with the blue one I made a ribbon bow and attached it to a plastic headband.
With the purple I made a tag that said HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! (I was a birthday present). I wore regular clothes underneath. It was REALLY fun! Everyone loved it!
