My son and I Tommy from Louisville, KY decided to get real creative this year. We built a zombie referee carrying a peewee football player. We built it mostly out of Styrofoam and PVC pipe, all stuffed into a back pack. I referee football so the uniform shirt, pants, flag, whistle, socks, hat and shoes was very easy to come by. The helmet shoulder pads and pants were all donated from a local little league.

The jersey is my old High school practice jersey. We found a zombie mask at a Halloween store for $45.00. That was over half the cost of the whole costume. We then added Blue LED lights inside the mask to light up the zombie’s eyes. We then stuffed around the PVC frame with Batting material that you use to stuff pillows.

It took us about 10 hours to complete and around $75.00 total. We had a ball and it was great to see the response from the neighborhood. There were numerous people throughout the night that asked to have their picture taken with him, or just to take a picture of him for them selves to enjoy.

Coolest Football Player Costume 9

Homemade Football Player Costume

I am a female high school art teacher at Lake Travis High School in Austin, TX. I love to watch the football games and we are the state winning football team (4A) for the past 4 years and are trying to “drive for 5” consecutive state titles. This year for Halloween, I decided to pay homage to our winning football team and dress up as one of them.

The head and helmet apparatus is completely homemade from Paper Mache and plaster. My Football Player Costume took a month to complete and was a joint effort between me and my husband who is also an art teacher. My husband built the head on an exercise ball base. The head rests on a set of practice shoulder pads to help distribute the weight. The uniform is borrowed from the football team.

Tonight at our last home game of the season, I plan to run out onto the field with the team. I guess you could call me Lake Travis High School’s biggest fan.

My son wanted to be a scary football player. So we decided to make him a Homemade Headless Football Player Costume. We placed his football socks and pants on as normal then placed a wash cloth with fake blood on top of his head. Placed his shoulder pads on top of his head and tied them tight enough that they will not come down. The child can see through the ties where they tie up. Placed the over sized jersey on top of shoulder pads.

We placed fake blood on my son's pants and hands. He also carryed his helmat as a candy bowl. This costume won 1st place in the costume contest at the Dale Hollow State park. People were having trouble figuring out how he could see this was such a fun costume!!

Hope this costume was a fun and cheap way of freaking people out on the funnest night of the year. Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Love the baby football costume. I also have 2 little boys, 6 yrs and 4 month old. My 6 year old plays football and wants to wear his uniform this year and he said he wanted his baby brother to be the football. Do you know anywhere where I could get this football costume made? You can email me at klwilliamson87@gmail.com
