We started our Corpse Bride and Groom Costume with going to the local thrift store to find ideas. Came across a wedding dress that fit perfect, so off to the guys area to find a suit. I stopped at the fabric store and just sewed in black and blue tulle onto the dress. Then took a scissor and cut up the dress and suit. Hot glued fake spiders and cockroaches onto both the outfits. Then hung them up outside and tossed fake blood all over them. I made the hat out of tulle, black foam paper from the craft store and an old headband. Be creative. That basically finishes the outfits.

Now comes the hair. First the man needs to grow out a beard before the date. You want to pick up white Halloween hair spray. Spray it all over your hair and beard. The girl can style her hair however is comfortable and spray with white or black or blue (whatever color you prefer) Halloween hair spray. Now come make up. There are many videos all over the web for Halloween make-up. We went with the slit mouth and throat, with blood coming out of the eyes. Black eyeshadow always comes in handy also. And some pail powder foundation can help with the dead look too.

Well there you have it.

Homemade Corpse Bride Halloween Costume

This Homemade Corpse Bride Halloween Costume was more of a challenge for me than the scary clown was. I wanted to look as accurate as I could; basically, I wanted to look as much like Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride as possible.

I bought a white wig and a bouquet of black roses. I went looking in thrift stores for a pale blue dress, and I could not find one. It was so frustrating. About a week before Halloween, my mom offered me her old wedding dress. It was a faded yellow color, not exactly what I had in mind, but it worked. Some days, I still can’t believe my mom let me out of the house in that.

I had planned on entering the costume contest, but in the Best Group category, with my school’s GSA. We had planned on being a rainbow, but no one else remembered, so I signed up for Scariest Costume at the last minute. I was up against a really bad-looking vampire, and a really well-done Chucky, complete with his bride in doll form. I truly didn’t think I was gonna win. And when the results were announced, they said Chucky had tied with the Corpse Bride!

This is Just Some Constructive Criticism For a Future Corpse Bride costume. First there is no need for a "Pale Blue" dress usually Thrift stores own some wedding dress that you can spray paint certain parts blue and cut the ends to make it look old put a blue wig with that and other accessories and you have "CORPSE BRIDE" :)

Happy Halloween

Most of this Homemade Corpse Bride Halloween Costume was purchased at thrift stores and then modified. I happen to pick a wedding dress up for only $3.50. Then I got some turquoise fabric dye for the top and bottom. The head piece was a wall wreath that I deconstructed into a head wreath and added roses sprayed with dark blue paint.

The makeup was a fusion of two online tutorials that worked out for my purposes and skin type. For my ribs I took a skeleton glove, (because you know we all have those just lying around the house, right) and cut it to look like ribs poking through. I hand stitched it on. This costume was great fun to replicate and wasn't too expensive.

We made the headless harness of the Homemade Headless Corpse Bride Costume with hangers and a backpack, stuffed the neck and arms with cotton. I purchased the dress and roses at the second hand store for $5.00.

Her wig was made with yarn that was spray painted with different color blues. Her makeup was replicated from the movie Corpse Bride. The outcome of the costume was fantastic!
