Homemade Corpse Bride and Groom Costumes

My husband and I live in China for 3 years now... on our first Halloween here we were kind of worried that we would not have any Halloween parties to go to and actually we were wrong. There are lots of foreigners living here that try to make the best of it.

So for last years Halloween we did prepare homemade costumes however we do not have any good pictures of it. Now for the 2008 Halloween we did dedicate some extra time to prepare a really cool Halloween costume, we got married in February and we felt corpse bride and groom would be just perfect for us.

So I started to try to find everything that we would need to make our costume, as here there’s no such thing as Halloween supplies stores it was kinda hard, but we made it.

First I learned on youtube how to make fake blood, which was awesome and it gave our costume a realistic look and that was cheap and easy (just corn syrup & red food coloring and water) and then I bought some really cheap make up to make the bruises and for the white dead look, some baby powder to throw on our clothes to give it an old look and lots of red and black eye shadow to make our clothes really dirty. For the clothes we used our own old clothes. For the veil I found it at a fabric store and I tried to give it a bride look by stitching a piece of lace on it and it worked.

We had a lot of fun and people thought it looked real and we think we deserve to be on this site! Thanks!

I made there two costumes all by myself. Only the Emily's blue hair was bought.

For the Emily's dress I bought some old curtains (altogether 5$) and sewed them together. I used my old corset too. Then I drew the curls all over the dress with the clothing colour.

I bought white tights and coloured them in blue too. I used some first aid bandages too.
The facial colour is azzure blue eyeshadow. Flowers are plastic and very cheap.

Victor's clothing is very simple, all found at home. Two shirts, my scarf and lower pajamas part.

The costs of this costume were like 10$ (without a wig). Instead of wig (if you're blonde – I'm not) you can dye your hair with some coloured foam.

The crucial part of this Corpse Bride Halloween costume is make-up. I spent like two hours only putting my make-up on.

It was fun. I really like the Corpse Bride movie, and I was enjoying making this costume.

Homemade Corpse Bride and Groom Costumes

For our Corpse Bride and Groom costumes we bought the dress, veil, tux shirt and pants at a thrift store. We made a wig out of 1 blue and 1 purple roll of yarn. We then bought the white hair color to spray our faces. (It doesn't get on everything and dries superfast - heaven). The gloves were $3.50 for his hands. We sprayed the dress and shirt with black spray paint to accent it.

TOTAL COST for both costumes : $31

For this Corpse Bride costume I used my real wedding dress. I made black and white roses and attached them to the dress, and made a bouquet.
I used an old net curtain to make a veil which I ripped up. I made the gloves in spider patterned material. I bought a black wig. I did my own make up. I wore a tiara and used spider webs to add creepiness to it.

I also made my sons devil costume.
