Plex - Yellow Robot from Yo Gabba Gabba
My son decided for this Halloween, he wanted to go as one of his favorite television characters - Plex from Yo Gabba Gabba. While we were in our local home repair center, we came across some concrete forming tubes - giant cardboard tubes about 4 foot long and 12 inches in diameter. PERFECT!
After a brief test fit in the store, we purchased the $8 tube and began a three month projects that ended up requiring 8 yards or various fabrics, mounds of foam rubber (a gift from a family member that does upholstery), Styrofoam, paint pens, aluminum foil, and approximately 40 glue sticks.
Daily custom fittings, my poor son couldn't see the entire outfit together until near the end of the project, mainly because everything was created separately. The head is separate from the body, then there's the feet, the gloves, the silver sleeves (attached to a black sweatshirt) and the silver leggings (attached to a pair of black sweatpants). We were worried about keeping my son warm in the outfit since Halloweens in Ohio are notoriously cold. That didn't end up being a problem. In fact, he can even wear the hood of his sweatshirt under the costume!
This Yo Gabba Gabba costume is by far the largest costume project we've taken on to date for the kids, I can't imagine it'll be the last.
Total Spent: $30
