Homemade Wonder Woman Girl Costume

My five year old daughter wanted to be Wonder Woman for Halloween and I just wasn't happy with the "super hero" knock-off patterns I was able to find. For this Wonder Woman Girl Costume I started with a basic ice skating leotard pattern and then altered it to become Wonder Woman.

I used stretch Lycra for the royal blue bottom and red top of the leotard and I made the top portion and sleeve out of nude colored stretch fabric, this helped not only to support the top of the costume but also to keep her warm Trick-Or-Treating.

The star and eagle appliques were also made out of stretch Lycra and were hand-stitched on to the fabric. I made the belt and wrist cuffs out of gold lame that I faced with fusible webbing to make them stiff and they had Velcro closures. I just used a yard of gold cording for the lasso and stitched it to the belt.

The boots were spats I made that closed with Velcro along the backside and she wore over regular shoes. These were also made of stretch Lycra. The cape was made of sparkle satin.

Finally, I made the tiara out of gold fun foam that I cut to fit and stapled in the back. She loved it and was a huge hit! My friend now wants me to make her an adult sized one for this Halloween.
