Homemade Tarzan Costume
I am just in love with my son's chubby legs and arms. I needed to think of a costume that would showcase just that! It was either Bam Bam or Tarzan. I decided to go with Tarzan and could not be happier with the finished product.
I purchased 1-yd of leopard material. I traced a pattern from a one-sleeve dress of my daughters. Sewed the side seams, leaving about a 2-3 inch opening on the left seam and sewed in Velcro to make it easier to put on. Finish the bottom by cutting a zig-zag pattern.
Leg covers. I purchased two sheets of brown felt. Then cut to fit my son's leg. Made a drawstring opening at the top of each piece of felt and used a shoe lace to close. To add the finishing touch I hot glued some faux fur on top of the felt.
Armband - Used a small piece of left over fabric. Used a pair of my daughter?s old bloomers to cover his diaper.
For Tarzan's club I used a small bat we already had. I then bought some black felt that had an alligator like pattern. Traced the bat, sewed the sides, stuck the bat in and then hand sewed the top.
He was a hit! We received so many compliments?
Total spent: $12
