Coolest Homemade X-Men Costumes

I was Rogue and my friends Brooke and DJ were the Dark Phoenix and Storm from the X-men cartoon series.

My friends and I are huge dorks and as an x-men enthusiast I convinced them to join in on the fun for our company Halloween party. They were a HUGE hit everywhere we went - the best homemade costumes by far, we put the rented costumes to shame.

Brooke and I ordered our unitards from a dance company out of California and the rest was completely our own doing from components bought from Joann Fabrics, ebay, and consignment shops. (My unitard was originally white and I had to spray dye it myself). I used my own knee-high boots and sewed yellow spandex around them and I collected the green headband, yellow gloves, white hair color for my bangs, and cropped "Rogue" jacket over the course of a few months.

I am pretty proud of how creative we were! They were SO much fun to do and I feel like a superhero every time I wear my Rogue costume. I still get asked to wear it to various costume parties. I might even take it to the next comicon to come to my area!

Me Like it...You wanna sell it???!
by: Burgandi

So it would be a shame not to sell that beautiful costume to me. I live in Hawaii and I'm sure that I haven't seen anything as great as that costume here. Soooooooooo?

Looking good Chere. I'm hoping my Gambit costume comes out looking as legitimate as yours does.

Dark Phoenix

I'm currently trying to make my own dark Phoenix costume for a fancy dress party. How did your friend get the design on the front of her unitard? and where were the boots from? Your costumes all look great =)

Awesome Costume

Your costume looks amazing! I only have a few weeks to get ready for my costume party and was wondering if you've come across any sites that offer any other Phoenix costumes that are already put together. ??? Hmm...I'm not sure my tummy will be as flat as yours in the costume, but I'd love to find one!

Rouge

I think your rouge outfit is amazing. Just like how it is in the original x-men comics. I'm going to a superheros fancy dress night and I want to go as Rouge as she is my fave! Can you help me as to where to get the bits and pieces to make the costume! Thank you!

x-men rogue
by: Anonymous

I found a good website selling x-men rogue costume that is similar. You can try http://x-men-paradise.just-marvel-x-men.com/x-men-rogue-1.html, I tried making one but didn't quite make the cut so thought I'd share my alternative.

Hey, your costume is awesome. I'm trying to be rogue this year and was wondering the name of the place you ordered your unitard from?

Unitard and symbol questions
by: Jess

You can buy a white mock neck unitard from Bal Togs (I got mine through Amazon) and some fabric dye (NOT paint!) from your local store and dye it whatever color you want. As for the Dark Phoenix symbol, just trace (or in my case, draw on the computer because I'm just not that talented) the Phoenix symbol, put it on cardstock, put the fabric over that, trace it on the fabric, cut it out and sow/glue it on. It's really not that hard and the costume is amazing!
