Homemade Where the Wild Things are Costumes

We all love so much the monsters in Where the Wild Things are and, since my twin daughter's really wanted to be two of them, I made these Homemade Where the Wild Things are Costumes.

I started out with cardboard, old fur coats, fur remnants, a leopard costume from years ago, animal house slippers and my imagination. I have no experience or education in design or sewing but it came out great. It took about 1 week to do the first costume headpiece and about 3-4 days for the second headpiece.

My daughters were very pleased with and proud of their costumes and so was I. Everywhere we went, we were stopped and crowds of people wanted to take pictures. No one believed that these were homemade so I was very flattered by the compliment. We tried to enter contests, but the area we live in seems to cater only for adult contests. We are so pleased to have found out information online about children's contests. Thank you so much for this opportunity.

GREAT JOB
by: Anonymous

These are the best costumes of all the Wild Thing costumes on this website. You did a GREAT job. I especially like how shiny and real the eyes look. I am so sorry you didn't win any contests with these. They are awesome and I know a lot of hard work went into them. You should be very proud and your children are really lucky to have a mom that is so creative.
