Coolest Homemade Sexy Big Bird Halloween Costume Idea

I wanted to be big bird!!

Here’s what I did to create this homemade Big Bird Halloween costume idea.

I bought 8 yellow feather boas and sewed them on to a mini tube dress (that I had in my closet since High School, lol) I just put in a stitch about ever 6 inches or so.

For the legs I bought opaque orange tights. I bought a yard of elastic and spray painted it pink. I cut off pieces and hot glued them to form a band to fit around my leg. I did that for each stripe you see.

For my feet, I had old white heels that I spray painted orange and bought 2 pieces of orange felt to make the big bird feet, I hot glued the feet to the toe of my shoe and then just tied the top of the felt around my ankle with thread so you couldn’t see it.

For the necklace we just spray painted ping pong balls yellow and threaded them like a necklace.

For the headpiece, I used a piece of my boa and connected it to a clear head band. The eyes were painted with pink and blue puffy paint and then I glued on googly eyes. The beak is a Styrofoam cone, cut in half and covered with yellow felt.

I will actually be selling this costume one eBay for Halloween 2011.

Everyone LOOOOVED it. I was quite proud of it myself :)
