Homemade Scarecrow Halloween Costume
This year my family and I decided to go as characters from the Wizard of Oz. I decided to make a Homemade Scarecrow Halloween Costume. It was a very simple. To begin with I glued burlap (purchased at a fabric store) to an old pair of blue jeans. I added straw/hay around the edges (I used an old grass skirt) of the pants and flannel shirt.
I glued to pieces of burlap together to drape over the shirt and added leaves and patches I cut out of felt. I purchased a crow at my local dollar store and glued it on the back on the shirt. Finally I took the hat from a scarecrow we already had and added straw and leaves. I made my son’s face up with orange colored make-up and black eyeliner.
We got so many compliments on the costume! It was very easy and very inexpensive to make, fewer than 12 dollars.
