Homemade Santa Clause Dog Costume
This is my dog Cletus. I dressed him up as Santa Clause for Halloween because he brings joy to everyone.
I used a kid's large sweat shirt and just added fuzzy fabric for the trim. His wig was made out of a winter hat with a hole cut in the top for his face to fit through snuggly (or a ski mask can be used). Yarn was looped though with a large fabric needle and knotted on the inside for the hair.
The Santa hat was secured with a fabric elastic under his chin and the beard was sewn onto the elastic. The beard was just cut from the excess fuzzy fabric from the trim. I used black fabric for a belt and simply tied it around his waist. Black socks were used for boots (he has very large paws).
Finishing touches were added like small bells sewn onto his chest so they jingled when he walked. Finally, Santa's sack was made from black fabric stuffed with cotton stuffing and tied with red and green ribbon.
Cletus is a very tolerant 2 1/2 year old American Bulldog; he looked great in his Santa Claus Dog costume.
