Coolest Homemade Peacock Halloween Costume Idea

As I’ve wanted to be a peacock for years, I finally took the plunge and went for this homemade peacock Halloween costume idea this Halloween! I ordered over 200 feathers online and worked day in and day out for three weeks straight. It was certainly a hit at every party I attended so Ill share a quick how-to on the process…

On a piece of cardboard, I glued all my feathers one by one so that I could slide the piece into my corset top and secured it by gluing small ribbons on each. Surprisingly, they didn’t get in the way like you would think! I tried to keep the feather spray more upward versus outward.

For the top, I glued feathers and feathers all over the front then for the breast area, I used a feather bushel that I purchased from Michaels. I flattened the bushel out and then glued one on each side, then placed more peacock feathers over the bushel.

For the bottom, I purchased strung feathers from a high fashion fabric store (this was pretty expensive so prepare yourself if you’re going to try this one next year) then glued more peacock feathers over the strung feathers.

I wore some high wasted black spanx for my bottoms so my outfit actually looked like it was all one piece. This helped me tremendously as restroom breaks would have near impossible if it was all one piece.

Finally, I threw on some never-to-fail fishnets, satin elbow-length gloves, pinned a bushel of feathers in my hair and wore some fantastic feathered lashes! Again, everyone loved it and it was totally worth all the hard work I put into it. I’m already thinking about what I’ll do for next year!!!
