Coolest Homemade Green Army Man Halloween Costume Idea

I started this homemade green army man Halloween costume idea by going to the army surplus store. I found a pair of used boots $5.00, belt $5.00 and a canteen $2.50. I found a pair of cargo pants and a BDU shirt $3.00 a piece. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a helmet so I made one from cardboard and paper mache. I then covered the helmet with canvas, tied a net and put that on top of the canvas.

I then had to figure out how to make my hands and face and clothes all the same color. I found some green liquid body latex online. When the latex arrived I painted a piece of paper with it, took it to Lowes and had them mix a gallon semi-gloss interior latex paint to match. I then spent a number of nights painting all of my clothes with three coats of the interior latex paint.

I found my first paint ball gun and painted it also. The base is just a piece of cardboard that I cut to shape and painted. When it was time to get dressed I spent about an hour and a half painting my face and hands. I used three coats to make sure it was good and green. The cool thing about the liquid body latex is that when you’re ready to take it off, it pulls off in one piece for the most part. Try to avoid getting it in your hair. I learned that lesson the hard way.
