Homemade Christmas Story's Toungue Stuck to Pole Costume
I always loved that movie "A Christmas Story". The scene that everyone remembers is when Flick got his tongue stuck to the pole in the school yard. I decided to go as a Homemade Christmas Story's Toungue Stuck to Pole Costume.
I made a pole out of PVC pipe but needed to stabilize it so it wouldn't fall over while I was doing "schtick", so I duct taped an orange caution cone to the bottom and filled it with newspapers. I covered that with white stuffing to look like snow.
The flag I made from a pillow case and I had to re-create the logo on the computer. I ironed it onto the pillow case and sewed it around a coat hanger, then attached it to the pole. I took an old flight cap but it needed goggles. So I cut the bottoms of cups off and sewed them to the cap. I got the coat at the goodwill and used a scarf that I had.
The gloves were another story though. Try finding red gloves. The only ones I could find were made for toddlers. Luckily I have small hands! Then I went around sticking my tongue to the pole and balling and wining like Flick did. People were double dog daring me all night!
