Homemade Broby from Yo Gabba Gabba Costume

My 13 yr. old daughter suggested we make a Homemade Broby from Yo Gabba Gabba Costume as a joke. I took one look at this crazy creature and told my daughter we could do it.

I bought foam sheets from the craft store and made the shape of the torso, legs and arms with the foam. I stitched and glued the foam into a body suit. I sewed lime green and dark green fabric into a sheet of striped fabric and then wrapped it around the body. I made separate sleeves and attached them to the torso. I made the dark green booties and sewed thin leather on the bottom.

The head was quite a challenge. I used thin foam core for the flat front and back of the head. I put chicken wire between the two flat foam pieces and then used plaster of Paris to made a hard covering over the foam core and wire. I used the same lime green fabric to make a "toaster" type cover and I tucked it underneath the edges and glued it down. I cut holes for eyes and the mouth.

I used black plastic netting over the eyes and mouth then cut the orange mouth shape and the white eyes out of flat foam. I used black fur for the unibrow. The cones on top of Broby's head are made from cardboard and covered with orange felt. I put a few pieces of left over foam inside the head on the left and right so the head would sit on the shoulders without falling off.
