Coolest Edward Scissorhands Costume 5

Edward Scissorhands
Like many others, I lovethe Edward Scissorhands movie! And any other Tim Burton movie for that matter! I figured I had the hair, so I might as well give the Edward Scissorhands costume a try.
First and foremost, I have to give credit where it is due. I downloaded a template for the scissorhands from Britta Peterson's website: www.britta.com. She seems to love Halloween as much as I do, and her site has lots of cool ideas. I used the template to cut out the scissorhands pieces from foam core board, then I spraypainted them silver and used a Sharpie marker on the edges of the blades. The pieces then got glued to an old pair of work gloves, and Voila! excellent scissorhands!
For the jacket, I found a cheap vinyl jacket at Ross for around $10. Then I added hook-and-eye closures so that I could get that almost straight-jacket look. I added bits of silver clips and hardware that we had laying around the house. I put a few safety pins on for good measure. And lastly added some black leather belts. I buy a black leather belts at thrift stores throughout the year because most of the costumes that I want to make require them.
I wore black pants that I already had and safety pinned more belts to loop around my legs. Put some belts around my ankles, and wore some clunky black leather shoes that I bought at Goodwill for $5.
For make-up, I just used white on my face and black lipstick. I had a blast! I scared more than a few kids in my neighborhood which is really the funnest things to do, I think.
