Homemade Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker Costumes

For Bunsen Honeydew: First I got a big ball from Walmart and paper mached it. Then I cut the mouth big enough so my daughter would be able to see out of it. I used clay to paper mache the big nose and ears and glued them on and painted it all green. I grabbed some large glasses from the dollar store and glued that on as well. I found lab coats and ties at the Goodwill for both costumes.

For Beaker: I used flexible plastic that I found at Walmart and shaped it so it looks tubular. Then I cut an area out for his mouth and paper mached it all. I used more clay to make Beaker's large nose, which I paper mached as well and then glued on. I painted Beaker a pink color and found orange colored fuzzy yarn at the fabric store. I got two big Styrofoam balls for his eyes and used a black marker to draw small circles in.

The girls had so much fun with these Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker Costumes and a lot of people wanted to take pictures with them! I just hope that Jim Henson would be proud!

I am going to try this with my boys this year! What department area in Walmart did you get the plastic for Beakers head? Any help to point me in the right direction would be appreciated! Thanks so much!
