Dead Mermaid Costume
I'm not sure how I came up with the idea for this dead mermaid costume, it just sort of happened. The net and the fake grass/seaweed was bought from a craft store. I used fishing line to tie all the junk (chunks of the grass, cans, old bobbers, and seashells that had a hole drilled through them) to the net.
I also tied some grass and shells to some hair clips to make it look like it was stuck in my hair. I used some cheap Halloween makeup to make me look dead and put a bruised and bloody line around my neck where the net had "choked me". The net was just safety pinned together around my neck. It was a little last minute so I just went out and bought a mermaid costume for the tail effect, but just used a bathing suit top I already had.
Someone at the Halloween party was dressed as a creepy fisherman, so it made for a great contrast!
