I wanted a unique costume for my pups so I decided to try and make it myself. I didn’t necessarily want the same costume for the two of them, but wanted to find costumes that went together. I came up with the idea of commercial stars / divas and that’s how Nelly and Darci dressed up as the popular stars of the Orbit gum and Progressive Insurance commercials.
Darci is dressed as Flo, from the Progressive Insurance commercials, and my first step was to sew a plain, white apron. I then ironed on the Progressive logo and attached the buttons. I completed the look by sewing a blue ribbon to her wig to make Flo’s blue headband. I sewed Nelly’s Orbit gum girl dress using white fabric and adding the blue fabric accents to make a belt, trim on the sleeves, trim on the bottom of the dress, and to make the scarf. The outfit was “topped off” with a blonde wig, and as the Orbit gum girl would say… “Fabulous”.
