Caterpillar Puppy On His Mushroom
My dog, Ohana, is dressed as the Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland which I made from scratch along with his sidekick Willow, who is wearing a store bought Alice costume.
I sewed the Caterpillar costume by beginning with a dog coat base which I added a second layer to and stuffed with stuffing. I created the legs by attaching pieces which I stuffed with stuffing and lined with wire in order to make them movable. I then added little shoes onto the end which I sewed together.
The mushroom float was made from wood, cardboard cylinder, a sled, and paper mache. I placed the sled on top of the cardboard cylinder which I then covered with paper mache to simulate an actual mushroom stalk. I sewed the mushroom top bed together and stuffed with stuffing. I glued yellow felt circles on for mushroom spots as well.
Ohana sat on the mushroom while I pulled him down the sidewalk. I was even able to make bubbles come out of the hookah pipe.
