My homemade Burlesque Peacock costume!
This is my pride and joy! I even won a costume contest at a casino for it! and I LOVED making it. I made the following pieces to complete my peacock look:
– A hand sewn layered tulle, black saddle feather, peacock feather and peacock sword bustle. (I HAND SEWED over 750 feathers to this bustle!! craziness… it’s time to invest in a sewing machine for 2012’s costume!)
– A hand sewn and glued peacock feather and sword corset (I deconstructed a standard corset and hand sewed a better fitting bra to the corset…)
– A hand made feather fan with around 20-25 extra long peacock feathers, (accented with a rhinestone in each peacock eye.)
– I also rhinestoned and feathered a garter, hair clip and shoes! (which are harder to see)
This was an amazing costume, and definitely had that WOW factor!
