My husband and I celebrate our wedding anniversary every year at our annual Halloween party.  We were married on October 30th so this time of year is extra special for us.  For this party we decided to dress up as Effie Trinket and Haymtich Abernathy from the Hunger Games.  Goodwill was our go to place for the majority of our costume.  I couldn’t find what I was looking for in the right color, so I bought everything in white and dyed it pink.  I had to do some adjustments to the jacket to get the puffed sleeve affect.  I took the sleeves off of another shirt and sewed them to the jacket and stuffed them with pillow fluff.  I bought a Marilyn Monroe wig and then hot glued a big flower to the front.  For my necklace I did the same.  I used ribbon and hot glued fake flowers to it.  For Haymitch’s wig we used a hippie wig and cut it short.  We couldn’t find the right kind of shirt so we cut his colar and sewed it to make it right.

Every year for our costume I try to find a way to incorporate something from my wedding day.  If you look closely on my jacket you will see a purple spider pin.  I wore that same pin at the waist on my wedding dress.

There is also a fun picture of us cutting our anniversary cake.  This cake is similar to one of the layers of our original wedding cake.

The funniest part of the night was when one of our friends showed up dressed as Katniss Everdeen.  We had no idea that she was dressing up as the Hunger Games too!  It just made the evening that much more fun!
