I took inspiration from the Giant Homemade Oompah Loompah Adult Halloween Costume submitted on this website. I'm 6'6" so I thought it would ironic.
Ok, starting from the top.
Blond wig spray painted green. I had to style and cut wig to look similar to Oompah Loompah. Orange facepaint, searched everywhere in Montreal, but luckily found it in a Halloween warehouse. White facepaint for the eyes. Brown Turtleneck bought from Value Village (thrift shop). White Duck Tape for the white stripes, stays on for a long time. White cotton winter gloves from Dollarama. Women's White 3/4 length trousers from Value Village. I then bought Martial Arts belts and sewed them onto the trousers. Unfortunately I couldn't find knee high brown socks or brown shoes, so I just wore green socks and shoes, no-one noticed.
I was hoping to find brown slippers from the Dollar store, and brown soccer socks, but no luck.
The key to this costume is the green hair and orange face!
Definitely plan well in advance because lots of the items I needed were difficult to find, but with persistence I managed to make a costume that everybody liked.
My godson Christopher looks forward to halloween, cause he knows his "Nina" will create him the cutest costume possible! And it helps that he gets into character, too! He sang the oompa loompa song, too! This pic proves it! OOMPA LOOMPA was the best! He was painted orange, I bought a black wig, created curls with hairpins, then spray painted with green hair paint. Eyebrows were made with cottonballs. Made the binder out of white material and attached suspenders & buttons to it. The brown longsleeved turtle-neck shirt and stockings had white strips of tape attached for stripes. White jogging pants tucked under abdominal binder and white gloves. The shoes were brown clogs with pom pom balls that I made out of yarn.
These Homemade Oompa Loompa Halloween Costumes were one of the biggest hits of the night. Everything was purchased very cheap and the rest was we had. First we had gone to the local thrift store and purchased the turtlenecks, and pants. With a little altering to the pants they were perfect. We added some handmade suspenders and buttons. Then painted stripes with brown fabric paint on the neck and socks.
We had found some wigs on clearance that were white and curly so we sprayed them green and shaped them. The shoes were some we had and we just added the pom-poms made of yarn. At last we added the face paint and we were done! Fun, easy and cheap!
I love dressing up for Halloween and I love having creative costumes. I thought I would give the Homemade Oompa Loompa Costume a try. It came out pretty good.
The shoes are just brown shoes with white balloons. I colored the swirl on the balloon. The socks were white and I colored the stripes on them as well. The shirt was a regular long sleeve brown t- shirt. I cut the bottom off and cut that into little stripes. I sewed the stripes onto sweat bands for the neck and sleeves. I had custom ordered the wig from a shop.
