Homemade Capn Crunch Costume

This is an easy made Capn Crunch costume... for the shoes I didn't really get into it with detail (any shoes would work).

For the socks I bought some blue soccer socks debating on what color blue I was going to match them with. For the pants I bought some all white classic baseball pants at Big 5 for only 8$. For the jacket and the hat I used an old blazer/suit jacket - Navy Blue. Then I cut out some yellow circles and hot glued them to the jacket.

The hat was a little tricky- I went to the nearest fabric store and bought 2" thick soft foam (like the kind you use to make quilts and blankets), it looks like bed lining... I Cut out 2 symmetrical matching pieces in the shape of Capn Crunches hat and glued them together leaving a space open at the bottom the size of my head shape. For the 'C' on the hat I went to Michael's and bought a dollar letter C and hot glued it to the hat.

The mustache I bought (white felt with the sticky side)... I also used the left over felt for the eyebrows. The collar of Capn Crunch was easy - I cut up a piece of 2" foam and cut out a round piece so my neck can slide into it.

And that's all! Enjoy.

Coolest Miss Captain Crunch Halloween Costume

Homemade Miss Captain Crunch Halloween Costume

Homemade Miss Captain Crunch Halloween Costume

I always have a hard time thinking of a good costume idea because every idea I think of is a boy character. So this year, I decided to forget about gender and to revamp Captain Crunch as a woman!

The best part of my costume was the hat! This hat is made from foam covered with blue spandex fabric. I hot glued the fabric to the foam, then I stitched the two foam pieces together. I added the "C" to the hat using heat and bond.

I used a pattern for a baby doll dress with a few creative adjustments (adding tool under the skirt, changing the neckline to a v-neck, etc...). The blue and yellow fabric is spandex, which saved me the trouble of messing with a zipper and making it easier to create a good fit. The buttons are made from foam covered with the yellow fabric. The yellow sleeve cuffs are tacked down so they would not slide around. The shoulder boards are made with fabric and yarn and attached with hot glue.

This costume was fun to make and it was a big hit on Halloween! "You and the Captain make it Happen!" - Captain Crunch

I Loved Your Costume!
by: Andrea

Hi -
I absolutely loved your costume! I was just assigned Captain Crunch for this year's Halloween and I have absolutely no talent in making a costume. Is there any way you would sell me your costume? I would be SO grateful! I'm even happy to pay you to let me wear it on Halloween and then I can send it right back to you. Please let me know at andreabaum@mac.com Thanks so much!

Coolest Captain Crunch Costume

I thought of this Captain Crunch costume while walking through the grocery store, trying to come up with an original costume idea. I had never seen someone dress as Cap'n Crunch so I thought it would be fun. I got a lot of compliments on the costume, people loved it!

With just a little sewing, I made the jacket out of blue felt (with help from my mom) and used yellow felt to create the "buttons" and the shoulder embellishments. The collar was made using felt and think card stock to give the collar the tall shape.

I cut the hat shape out of cardboard and then covered it in felt then attached the whole thing to a baseball hat which I took the bill off of. The eyebrows are just cotton balls glued to the hat. The mustache is a store bought stick on which I covered in cotton balls since I couldn't find a white one.

For the pants, I just bought a pair of white sweats and then wore black boots. It turned out to be pretty easy.

Here is my Cap'n Crunch Costume. I started with heading out to the local thrift shop and bought some old white tuxedo pants, as well as this shiny blue female's jacket. I popped the collar and added some felt buttons and trimmings. I used two beer coozies for the large cuff links.

I bought two different sets of mustaches, one for the eyebrows and one for the mustache. I then found one of those enlarged cowboy hats from six flags and pinned it up to look like the Capn's! To top it all of I made Cap'n CrunK Berries that I passed out to everyone at the party. (A white Russian with crunch berries floating in it! Delicious!)
