This is my version of a Captain America costume.. I wanted it to be as comfortable and as practical as possible..
After looking at as many Captain America costume pictures I could find, I used the idea I had in mind, mixed with any other input I could find online, including this site.. The Captain America Costume is fun to wear and fun to make.
The costume consists of: A thicker white under armor shirt, A red shirt cut into strips to make stripes, A navy blue t-shirt cut down (star sewn on front and back), A pair of navy blue work pants, A pair of shoes painted red and covered, A pair of red cloves and glove covers/gauntlets. A black belt, Also an additional navy blue t-shirt to make the hood.. This was the hardest part! I backed the hood with and additional stretchy fabric, customized and glued in a plastic mask. (to help keep the form) I also made a jacket to go with it! (to stay warm on Halloween night!)
I wish you all the best in your costume making! Enjoy and have some fun! & stay safe...
This is my Captain America costume. I made it entirely from scratch. I wore it to the "comic book hero"-themed Halloween party I held last night at my apartment. The pants are women’s leggings that took me 2 weeks to find. I finally sent my girlfriend into a clothing store to find me these epic blue spandex.
The shield is a snow sled that I was lucky enough to find at a store that happened to have their winter stuff out already. I made the mask out of an old bed sheet and taught myself to sew! The shirt consists of about 4 different shirts, cut up, and glued together. I went through 4 cans of spray paint and a roll of duct tape making the shield and boots.
The gloves are heavy-duty work gloves that took a whole can of red spray paint to alter. The whole getup took around 20 hours to complete and it was totally worth it. I wore it all day at work and startled many people with my obnoxiously prominent package!

This is my homemade Captain America costume which took many hours to complete. I made it from scratch except the gloves and boot tops. Everything else was cut, sewn, and painted to complete.
Every piece of this costume was made with Under Armour Cold Gear material. The shield is made from a red steel saucer sled that I purchased online. I then painted the center circle and white circle before taping off and painting the white star. On the back side of the shield I cut and measured 2 pieces of wood to fit inside the shield as a brace. I then attached 2 thin strips of Velcro with a buckle to reverse direction and Velcro onto itself at any various length to accommodate different forearm girths.
It was a long but rewarding process both at the sewing machine and painting the shield. The mask did not come out as good as I hoped but I can work with it.

This Captain America Woman's Costume is a female version of the superhero Captain America, very easy to make and looks great!
Started with an old red corset and sewed strips of white material down it to create the stripes. Sewed shiny blue material around the top of the corset and ruched in the centre. Using same blue material fashioned a simple skirt by measuring to correct size and sewing an elasticated waistband around to make it easy to get on and off. (Don't worry if it isn't perfect it sits under the corset anyway).
Star cut out of card and safety pinned to corset. Shield made from different coloured card and fastened with two loops to fit over arm.
Finish outfit with optional socks, gloves and headband and voila a simple yet stylish Captain America costume.
