This Homemade Baby Owl in a Nest Unique Halloween Costume Idea is so adorable, and I had so much fun making it! I used feather boas, individual feathers, orange colored foam for the beak, animal eyes for doll making, a blank masquerade mask, a basket, and I took apart a fall wreath I found at yard sale to decorate the basket.

I attached the feather boas to a long sleeved onesie type outfit my son already had using a hot glue gun. He also had a bomber type hat that I used to create the owl head. I sewed the feather boas to the hat. I than created an owl face on the mask with feathers and the animal eyes I purchased at the craft store. I attached it to the hat with glue. I glued leaves, berries and pine cones to the nest, put a pillow in it so he could be comfy, and there you have it! I also used our jogging stroller to tote our little owl.

I held the basket to the stroller with a bungee cord and it worked out great! He won 1st place in his age group at a local contest, and I can't tell you how many people stopped us for pictures.

Coolest Bird in Nest Costume 6

Homemade Bird in Nest Costume

Homemade Bird in Nest Costume

Kaw! Kaw! Fly away home birdie! This costume features a mother bird and her babies in a tree.

Materials:
-Swimming pool ring
-raffia
-ivy
-brown paper
-blue shirt
-stuffed animal birds
-feathers blue and white (for mask)
-Blue feather boa
-Cardboard
-blue shiny material

The nest was simple to make. I just took a swimming pool ring and put raffia (available at any craft or decorations store) around the cover it.

Then, I found some old Beanie Baby Birds and taped them in place in the nest.

The wings are cardboard and are tied together with string behind my neck and well as tied to my arms. For the mask, I just glued feathers to a piece of paper and glued on a beak made from yellow paper.

To make the tree trunk, I crinkled up brown paper and glued it to an old pair of pants. Then I glued ivy running down the trunk.

Coolest Birds Nest Costume 3

Birds Nest

Birds Nest

This year Savannah Rose went in a Birds Nest costume. We bought a Grape vine wreath, two vines, brown leggings, red hooded sweat jacket, 3 red stuff animal birds, fake fur and a bird visor. Most of the items we bought from the dollar store or on clearance.

I took one of Savannah's old dresses that was too short to wear anymore and sewed the grape vine wreath around the bottom of it. This made the nest and fit around her hips. I then took the 3 red birds and sewed them into the dress and wreath. The two vines were sewed up the legs of the leggings to represent the tree.

We stitched a bird visor to the hood and fur to the breast of the jacket to match the baby birds in the nest. I followed her around trick or treating dressed as a bird watcher.

Weird

Your description was weird and the costume looks more like a chicken than a bird's nest. Overall though, good costume. :-)
