Homemade Miss Argentina Costume

This is me dressed in my Homemade Miss Argentina Costume from Beetlejuice.

For the costume, I made the cape out of metal wire for a neck piece and then sewed mesh red fabric with diamontees around the metal frame. I then pinned a meter of fabric to the frame and this was tied under my arms to hold in place. The dress was home made from a pattern.

It is impossible to find a cheap wig that will sit correctly so I bought a cheap wig that was the matching red/orange colour and cut the fringe out and pinned in to my hair. I put my hair in a bun and pinned in pieces from the wig to create a beehive look.

The makeup was blue green body paint that was applied all over. I took a dark blue eyeshadow and created a highlight on blush on the cheek bone. I then put dark and medium purple eyeshadow on my eyelids with shading. I then added a ring of purple eyeshadow under my eyes and dark blue in the corners and down the edges of the nose to create shadowing. I used light green eyeshadow as a shimmer.

The final effect was a Miss Argentina sash which was black letters that stuck onto a thick white ribbon and was pinned together.

You seem to be one of the few ones with that perfect, blue/green color. Where did you find the make up? I'd really love to do this next year!

please reply!

Hi,
i used stage makeup that you mix with water on a sponge (reasonably cheap) in a blueish green colour in two shades one darker and one lighter for highlighting etc
and i also used purple, blue and green eye shadow try and create shadow effects along the nose cheeks and under eyes.

Also, i found the body paint at a stagecraft store and the eyeshadow i just bought a palette of about 30 colours that was about $20
if you are in Australia you can get it from priceline

Coolest Homemade Lydia Deetz Costume 29

To make my homemade Lydia Deetz costume I raided my closest ha ha.

I wore my long black broom skirt and tall black combat boots. I wore my husband's button down black dress shirt (I didn't tuck it in to give it that Lydia over-sided feel).

I wore fingerless lace black gloves. I had a black lace table cover that I used as a shawl. I cut a piece of black lace and tied it around my neck for a necklace.

I purchased a Bettie Page style wig. I cut it shorter and pulled half of it up in a black pony tale holder. I tweezed it a ton to give it that ratted spiky fun look. I cut the bangs and used gel and hairspray to get the spiky bang look she always has in the movie.

The biggest hit of the homemade Lydia Deetz costume I think was my book. I printed out a picture of the Hand Book from the Recently Deceased and glued it to the cover of an old book I had. I carried it with me all night and used it when posing for pictures.

I found a light pink dress at a local thrift store - only $12! First I cut off the lace sleeves. Then I needed to get it red. Here was the real problem. You can't dye synthetic material. After several different things I tried, I ended up with cheap red spray paint! 5 cans of it, no less. Got some red gloves, some red tool for a veil, some red roses, and then the hair and make-up.

All in all the whole costumes ended up about $30! not too shabby. We had a fun adult halloween party at our house and ended up winning Best Couple costumes!

Homemade Miss Argentina Costume

I love Beetlejuice and always thought that I wanted to do the Miss Argentina costume but wasn't sure how. I looked up a couple of pictures and found what I wanted. I bought the paint and found a red wig at a thrift store (very lucky). I had a red dress that I wore twice already at a Xmas party so I decided to cut it up and made the cape!

This Homemade Miss Argentina Costume was one of the coolest costume ideas I have done and would recommend it to all!
