Some acquaintances of mine held a party to raise money for a charity. They decided upon a superhero theme, since "we are all superheroes, donating to help others out." Whatever the excuse to dress up and drink is, I tend to show up.
However, last minute, some of my close friends backed out of going. I still really wanted to go, knowing I'd have a good time. I threw this Last-Minute Batgirl Costume together right before I left.
I wore a black athletic top, a black flared-out skirt, black gloves, black tights, and black shoes. Easy enough.
For the Batman logo, I just took some old yellow material and hand-drew and colored the Batman symbol with a permanent marker. That was literally safety-pinned on since I had no time to sew. However, despite this, almost everyone thought I just happened to have a Batman tank top that I used.
The cape was an old black fitted sheet. It was very roughly cut; I didn't sew anything. Part of the elastic was cut so I could just tie the cape around my neck. It actually made a pretty cool cape because of all the excess fabric that hung down.
Overall, everyone was pretty impressed and I didn't have to spend a dime. If I were to actually use this for something else, I would find a black tank top I'd be willing to sew the Batman emblem on as well as a Batgirl mask of some sort.
I have always loved a Batgirl costume because I think it is sexy without going over the limit.
I wanted to make my own Homemade Batgirl Costume because I didn't want to buy one just for one night. I did some research, found your page and loved the idea of making a costume with my own personal touch.
I made the mask from a piece of black plastic. I cut the yellow bat from a piece of construction paper and sewed it onto a black sweater. Instead of a skirt and boots, I wore tight black pants with a yellow belt, which I found among my kids' stuff, around my hips. I used a piece of black fabric as a cape.
So, most of the time was spent making the mask and bat logo(about one hour) and that was all I had to do to look like Batgirl!
It was great because I got to wear my favorite costume without having to spend a dime as I already had everything at home. My kids loved it and it was great to hear people compliment me on my costume.
The costume I made this year for Halloween was 'The Amazing Homemade Batgirl Costume.' I hand-stitched my Batgirl costume to make it look as amazing as it should be.
I dyed the base of my costume a greyish shade that is similar to the black, grey and yellow version of Batman. My inspiration was to look like Batman, but with a feminine touch.
With this costume, I can hide my secret identity & save my city from the bad guys. I love to fight crime & kick the ass of the forces of evil! I'm a normal student, loving girlfriend, citizen by day & crime fighter by night. When I need assistance, I call on Batman and Robin to help me. Thanks to Batman and Robin for their inspiration - without them I wouldn't be the greatest crime fighter that I am today!
