Homemade Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum Costumes

I wanted to come up with a costume for my twins that was original so I came up with Homemade Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum Costumes from Alice in Wonderland.

The costumes were easy to make but turned out so cute. I didn't have a pattern so I made my own. I used a stretchy red and yellow fabric to make the shirt and pants and sewed them together. I put a cuff on the sleeves. White fabric was cut and stitched together to make the collar. I added a bowtie out blue fabric. The outfit tied in the back to make it easy to get them into it.

A quilting hoop was used to make them round around the middle and tied into the costume. I wrote Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum on the collar with black fabric paint. The hats were made out of triangles of red felt sewed together to make a circle and I put a straw in the hole at the top and glued a triangle of yellow felt to it. The hardest part was getting them to leave the hats on! I was finally able the sneak the hats on without them noticing!

Hope you enjoy the costume!

I have a set of twins myself and every year i try to make something unique for them to be for Halloween. I was watching the new Alice in Wonderland and thought Tweedledum and Tweedledee would be perfect but wasn't sure on how to make them. Your twins look adorable and I'm sure they had a great time that your trick or treating.

Coolest Caterpillar Puppy From Alice In Wonderland Costume 9

Caterpillar Puppy On His Mushroom

Caterpillar Puppy On His Mushroom

My dog, Ohana, is dressed as the Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland which I made from scratch along with his sidekick Willow, who is wearing a store bought Alice costume.

I sewed the Caterpillar costume by beginning with a dog coat base which I added a second layer to and stuffed with stuffing. I created the legs by attaching pieces which I stuffed with stuffing and lined with wire in order to make them movable. I then added little shoes onto the end which I sewed together.

The mushroom float was made from wood, cardboard cylinder, a sled, and paper mache. I placed the sled on top of the cardboard cylinder which I then covered with paper mache to simulate an actual mushroom stalk. I sewed the mushroom top bed together and stuffed with stuffing. I glued yellow felt circles on for mushroom spots as well.

Ohana sat on the mushroom while I pulled him down the sidewalk. I was even able to make bubbles come out of the hookah pipe.

Homemade White Rabbit Costume

My daughters were in an "Alice in Wonderland" themed dance last summer. We decided to go for the Disney version of Alice and the White Rabbit Costume.

My oldest was the White Rabbit with pieces put together from thrift shop finds and alterations done by me:

- bunny hat from a bunny costume;
- black jacket taken in from a ladies small to fit kids 7/8 and embellished with white stitching to highlight the lapels;
- red wool vest embellished with black stitching to highlight the shape;
- yellow shirt;
- grey yoga pants made into shorts with a cuff;
- a pocket watch from a round purse with creative safety pinning;
- a bowtie from a hair barrette.

The white tights were the only thing new.

My other daughter was Alice, from a store bought costume. I did had to make a hair-band for her from a wide black hair-band and the bow from a hair barrette glued on.

The girls came in first place.
