This is a Cousin Itt Costume that I had the idea for that my mom helped me make. First we got some hair colored discount fabric and a tan knit hat from the dollar store. Then we got some yarn that was close to the fabric color.
It took four 8 ounce skeins for a 4'10" person. We cut the yarn into pieces about 8' long. The strands were attached to a doubled crocheted ribbon. We attached two strands folded in half to each double crochet stitch. We made three sets. We sewed the ribbon onto the fabric, that had been sewn to make a tube, leaving slits for arms.
We attached the strands onto the tube in tiers. We made a casing around the top of the tube and put a shoelace through so we could tighten it around my neck. Then we attached the rest of the yarn to the crown and brim of the hat in two tiers.
We got a plastic bowler hat from a party store and some dollar store black gloves. Then we added sunglasses. The total cost was about $15.
For this Wednesday Addams costume, I braided a black wig for her hair. I bought a black dress with puffyish sleeves. The dress was short sleeved so I had my daughter wear a long sleeve black shirt under. For the collar and the cuffs, I cut up an old t-shirt and pinned to the dress and by her hands. She wore black tights and clunky black shoes.
I de-capitated an old doll for her to hold. For the dolls black dress, I cut the toe part off of an old black sock and slipped it over the body. The doll's original dress happened to have the perfect collar, so I pulled that out over the sock-dress.
She loved the frowning idea from the other Wednesday on the site. I thought the black and white picture worked!
This Morticia and Pubert Addams costume is a very simple costumes!
Morticia: I colored my hair black and copied Morticia's hairstyle. I wore my grandmother's long black sleeveless dress and over it an old blouse I had with sleeves that resembled Morticia's. Of course, I also wore black high heels.
Pubert: I parted my 1 year-old son's hair down the middle and slicked it to the sides (not easy because his hair is usually very curly). I put him in a suit and drew a mustache on him with an eyeliner pencil.
My daughter thought of the idea at the beginning of the year. Could not find a costume so we had to make one. We bought two 5 foot long wigs and one 3 foot long wig. I fitted it to her head and sewed the wigs together. Then you add a black derby hat and glasses. For added effect she wore all black under neath and i glued some of the hair to black gloves. The gloves were for when she went to grab candy her hands were hairy also.
