I had wanted to be Eve for a few years now, but the store-bought costumes weren’t elaborate enough for me! So I started this Eve Costume with an inexpensive green, skirted bikini. I bought picks of assorted leaves and ivy from the local craft store, clipped the leaves off the picks, stood in front of a mirror and pinned different sizes of leaves all over the bathing suit until it looked finished. It was kind of like putting a jigsaw puzzle together.
I then used invisible thread to sew all the leaves on by hand (this is basically fishing line that is thin enough to thread through a needle…it comes on a spool just like regular thread, but its very forgiving on costumes because you can’t see it, so you can afford to be a little sloppy. The only thing, though, is that it can be a little itchy).
I then took apple halves that I had found in the craft store (they were flat on one side and 3-dimensional on the other) and hot glued them all over the suit. Added a vine of ivy in my hair, another fake apple to hold, a really realistic fake snake around my neck (I found him online), gold sandals, and VOILA! Eve was “born”!!
This Homemade Eve Costume was my latest idea for Unofficial Halloween this year. It was super easy to make and took little time. Here is what I used:
Black one piece monokini Boy shorts Pins Hot glue Gold ribbon Red craft roses (I got a bundle for .99 cents) Ivy leaves from the local craft store
I started off by taking off all the leaves off the vine. After that I started pinning the leaves onto the bathing suit until I felt it was full enough. I glued the leaf tips together so you wouldn’t see the bathing suit as much. For the boy shorts I just found it easier to hot glue them on so I knew for sure I wouldn’t lose any. After all of it was covered I added the little craft roses to give it some contrast. I also glued some leaves on a gold ribbon and let it run down my leg as if it were a vine. Also had to use tape to hold the ribbon in place.
I wanted to do something a little different than the usual Eve in a bikini and underwear look, but I still wanted the costume to be sexy. The materials I started with were a green bra, and old skirt and I also took an old shirt and cut two long strips of fabric from it 3inches wide. I removed the leaves from a faux plant I bought at a local craft store and hot glued all the leaves individually to the clothing components. I then glued the two strips (on an angle) to the bottom of the bra and the top of the skirt, exposing a small area in between the two strips.
Took a headband glued some leaves to it! Added an apple and a snake and the Homemade Sexy Eve Costume was complete.
