A Christmas Story has always been one of my favorite movies and now that my two youngest sons are the right age I decided to make them Ralphie and Randy Parker Costumes from A Christmas Story. We got the greatest comments all night. My little Ralphie had the facial expressions down pat and my little Randy really could not put his arms down.

I made the Ralphie Bunny Costume from a bunny pattern with a few variations to the hood as well as adding the ears and face on the feet. The Randy snow suit costume was made using the same pattern with lots of variations such as eliminating the feet adding buttons and pockets etc. The snow suit was lined with a cotton material and stuffing was added between the lining and the outer material. I added wire to the bunny ears to give them shape as well as to the ones on the feet. We found a pair of glasses at a costume store and painted them the right color. The scarf was one I had laying around.

It was so great to see my favorite movie (well actually OUR favorite movie) come to life with this Homemade Ralphie and Randy Parker Costumes from A Christmas Story.

For Halloween I was the Leg lamp from "A Christmas Story." I spent a lot of time brainstorming how I would go about putting the Leg Lamp Costume together. I also experienced several awkward moments going from store to store trying on lamp shades. The hard part was figuring out if the shade would actually "fit," since the metal rods were still intact.

Thankfully, I finally found the perfect one and took my chances. I glued the fringe on after removing the metal parts. My boyfriend dressed up as Ralphie, and I found him an actual Red Ryder BB gun. People loved the costume and yelled out "Frageelay" all night.

Coolest Homemade "A Christmas Story" Couple Halloween Costumes 8

Loving the Movie The Christmas Story and having to make a costume to go to a Halloween party my Husband Matt and I set out to make our homemade "A Christmas Story" couple Halloween costumes. I bought an old lamp shade and some fringe and hot glued the fringe to the shade, add stockings and high heels and I am done!

Matt created his costume from scratch and it turned out great!

We had such fun making it and everyone loved our idea.. Adding phrases such as "you'll shoot your eye out" and Fra-gee-lee, people soon got our concept as if just looking at it didn't help :)

I have always wanted to do this Christmas Story Leg Lamp Costume, but wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to do it. I saw the official dress costume online and was unhappy how unflattering it was. Thus, I decided to have the shade as a skirt. I didn't have a pattern, but I suggest to those who aren't great at sewing, to buy a simple skirt pattern. I made mine as a wrap skirt with Velcro to secure at the top. The material was found at Joann's as well as the fringe. I used puffy paint and letter outlines for the fragile stamp.

Coolest Leg Lamp Costume

Well, I lost my leg about 10 years ago. Since then, I've strived to prove that having one leg (being a monopod) is actually better than two (being a bipod). This year's Halloween was the muse I needed for yet another feat (errr...foot) for the cause. I know it isn't scary, but for originality's sake, and not to mention my dedication... which yes, I do believe that me sacrificing one of my feet for the best costume this year is considered dedication. This is my Homemade Leg Lamp Costume.
