My daughter loves 101 Dalmatians, so this year she asked if she could have a Homemade Cruella DeVille Halloween Costume. I went to the store and bought a cape pattern and all the material to make the cape in a Dalmatian print. The cape had a red satin lining and black fur trim on the neck and the bottom of the cape.
My dear friend from work helped me sew the cape. I bought the black velvet dress on eBay and it already had fur trim on the sleeve and neck. I also bought the red gloves for little girls on eBay. The wig and cigarette holder was purchased at a costume shop. I also put black feathers in her hair on the white side just to give it a little glam.
For the finishing touches I bought 3 little Dalmatian dogs at Jo-Ann Fabrics and pinned them to the back of her cape and one to a black purse I had. She won first place this year in the story book category for this costume. It was a lot of fun to make and she loved wearing it.

I wanted my daughter to be something different this year so, after thinking about it, my sister and I came up with a Homemade Cruella DeVille Halloween Costume.
My sister made the tutu and added black felt polk-a-dots to the white side. I already had black leotards and we turned one of my old red shirts into a little dress. She had some burgundy dress shoes that I spray-painted red. My sister found some red gloves at the dollar store and sewed up the sides to make them fit her better. We found a little black velvet jacket at the Goodwill and I added a dalmatian puppy button to the front.
Hobby Lobby had boas on sale so I bought one of those and found some play dress-up jewelry at Walmart in the kids section. My sister found some dalmatian material and my mom sewed it together to make a little cape. My sister had an old wig from last year's Halloween that she cut down to size, hung it upside down and spray- painted it half-black and half-white.
The costume was a huge success and everyone loved her!
My daughter is 7 and decided that this year she wanted to be Cruella De Ville for Halloween. Since they don't make this costume in her size, I knew that it would have to be homemade, even though I am not a good sewer. She was very excited throughout the preparation and thrilled with her costume when it was finished. This really was the best Homemade Cruella DeVille Child Costume! It was perfect and worth all the frustration.
I had enough material left over to make her two little dalmatian costumes for our two dogs: one bulldog and one poodle-mix. She let my sister and me paint her hair and give it that crazy de Ville style; she really looked awesome.
My daughter had a lot of fun trick or treating, especially as people recognized immediately who she was dressed as. Again I say, I can't sew but I did the best job I could and my daughter's reaction was worth it. People said that we should enter a costume contest, which we may do in the future. I may even start making her costume every year now!

My friend threw a 101 Dalmatian party. Only those dressed as a Dalmatian were let in. With over 200 confirmed guests on Facebook, this party had dozens upon dozens of Dalmatians running around throughout the night. This event occurred in the town of Isla Vista, home to the most notorious Halloween celebration, west of the Mississippi.
Thousands of college aged students come to this one square mile town in search of this celebration. In this year, however, any one dressed as a Dalmatian was automatically a friend. This Homemade 101 Dalmatians Group Costume is a great idea for anyone looking to throw a large party where strangers become friends through puppy kisses.
