Homemade Cruella and her Dalmatians Group Costume

We wanted to be something very obvious but did not want to buy our costumes or borrow someone else's. We thought of doing Disney villains but figured it might be too common. We liked Cruella so we decided to to a Cruella and her Dalmatians Group Costume because we have not seen that combination together.

We saw Dalmatians and Cruella's but never together and most adults do not dress up as Dalmatians. We bought cloth from fabric stores and hand sewed our own costumes. Cruella's dress was bought black and simple but pieces of the Dalmatians fabric was added to her costume to match the Dalmatians so people would know we were all part of the same group. Different accessories were bought from stores like dog collars and tags for the Dalmatians to wear.

Cruella holds a cigarette at all times so we bought that from a costume store. The Dalmatian's ears were made out of headbands and wires shaped into ears and covered with fabric. We wore our own earrings and made our own gloves. Cruella's hair was crimped and half of it was sprayed with white colored spray made for hair. We had a lot of fun making them and got a lot of crazy reactions!

How much was the total cost for ONE Dalmatian, and where did you get the supplies?

The total cost for the Dalmatian outfits was probably less than 20 bucks each! its cheap and easy! go to downtown LA for the fabric...you wont need more than a yard for each costume

Coolest Cruella De Ville Costume 3

Cruella De Ville Costume

Cruella De Ville Costume

My niece is not the kind of kid who is happy with being a simple princess or Hannah Montana look-a-like. No, she was set on a Cruella De Ville costume. We looked and looked for a costume and they just don't exist for children and she was too small to make an adult costume smaller for her (She is only 4).

So I went out and found a dress pattern and all the accessories. I found Dalmatian material and crushed velvet material. My mother cut the pattern in half and made two sides and sewed them together. We the added a red feather boa around the bottom hem and the arm holes. She also made her a puppy print purse with a drawstring that she could use as a treat bag. We also bought her a feather boa that had lights on it.

She has been in 3 local costume contests in her hometown and has won 1st place in all three. The big contest is coming up Halloween night.

An amazing costume! I wish she had come to my door Halloween night. I was in a Cruella costume too. It would have been great to have our pictures taken together. :) Did she win the contest on Halloween night?

Thanks! I have been searching on line for a costume like this for my Granddaughter who is only 2. I will head to Joannes tonight and start sewing. Her baby sister is going to be a dalmatian. :)

Coolest Homemade Cruella Deville Costume 5

Homemade Cruella Deville Costume

This Homemade Cruella Deville Costume is my best costume so far. I took an old black dress (they're always good for something) and sewed faux fur around the edges and painted on black spots. I bought a long string of fake pearls and borrowed the white gloves. I also made the cigarette holder by painting a paint brush black and white.

I added the red belt, red shoes, and a stuffed Dalmatian. I found the stuffed dog at the last minute which was great. As far as the rest of my costume, I used black and white colored hairspray after teasing my hair really big. Then, I applied white makeup for my face and blackened my eyebrows. I also added huge black and red fake lashes and red lipstick.

Of course that night I went around showing my teeth and making Cruella faces (especially at Cinderella, who is not in the picture). My friend on the right was a flapper.

Homemade Cruella De Ville Costume

This Cruella de Ville costume was very easy and inexpensive to put together. I spent about $10 on the entire thing and also used things I already had. The hardest part was finding a perfect fur coat. Luckily a friend of mine lent me her mother's coat but I'm sure you could find one at a thrift shop.

I wore a black tank top and a long black skirt with it. I bought white hair-spray and long white gloves at a Halloween Costume Shop. Since my hair is already dark black, all I had to do was spray the other side with the white spray. I used blue eyeshadow & bright red lipstick for the makeup. Lastly I attached a cigarette to a half piece of a chopstick; I got this idea from a costume store but chose to make mine. It was very simple to make and everyone loved it!
